Diagnosed with a critical illness?
If you or a family member are diagnosed with a critical illness, you've got several plans and resources with one goal—to support you.
- Medical—benefits for covered services, from diagnosis through treatment.
- Critical Illness—this plan pays a $5,000 Company-paid benefit if you are diagnosed with a critical illness, such as heart attack or stroke. You may purchase additional coverage for you and your eligible dependents.
- 2nd.MD—second opinions and treatment evaluations from the top specialists in the country.
- Your Aetna Nurse—a dedicated nurse to help you navigate the health care system and make informed health care decisions for every phase of treatment.
- Lyra Mental Health Benefits—16 free mental health coaching or therapy sessions to help you cope with your illness and manage the stress that comes with it.
Health coverage and your privacy
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (also known as HIPAA) protects the privacy of your health information. As a result, the Company may not release your protected health information to another individual without your consent, except for normal health care operations.
If you need the Benefits Department to assist you with any claims-related issues, you will be required to complete a form that authorizes the Company to discuss your or your dependent's health and claims information on your behalf with the health plan.
