Headspace Mental Health Benefit
CMSU's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is through Headspace. Consider Headspace as your personal guide to caring for your mind and navigating life's demands. Their aim is to help you stress less, focus more, and sleep soundly with hundreds of guided exercises and expert-led programs. Need more support? Connect one-on-one with an experienced mental health coach or clinician all in the Headspace app. You’ll also have access to confidential work-life services—including help with child and elder care, legal and financial guidance, and more.
Eligible dependents
Your dependents are also eligible for Headspace:
- Spouses and domestic partners age 18 or older
- Teens age 13 to 17 years old who live in the United States and are your legal child
At this time, Headspace isn't available for children under 13.

Care for Your Mind
Caring for your mind is just as important as caring for your body. Headspace can support you during all of life's moments—big or small—so you can feel more present every day.
- Everyday mindfulness—explore hundreds of guided mindfulness exercises and expert-led courses to manage stress, sleep soundly, and bounce back from challenges.
- Mental health coaching—Headspace coaches can guide you through everyday challenges. Whether you're managing anxiety, handling work stress, or having trouble sleeping at night, you can chat with a coach instantly or schedule your session through their app.
- Therapy and psychiatry—for deeper support, connect with a clinician. They are available within days, including weekends and evenings, and will work with your coach to make sure you have the care you need. See below for how to request in-person therapy.
Work-Life Resources
Headspace has work-life specialists for everyday challenges such as finding child care, elder care, legal advice, financial guidance, and more.
- Family and caregiving—childcare, elder care, adoption, education, special needs, new parents, life stages.
- Legal and financial—wills, estates, neighbor disputes, budgeting, loans, mortgates, retirement planning, credit, ID theft.
- Everyday living—household needs, pet care, travel and leisure, volunteer opportunities, community resources.
How to Get Started With Headspace
You and your spouse or domestic partner can get started by following these steps:
- Visit the Headspace enrollment page.
- Verify you are eligible for Headspace through CMSU by entering your employee number. Spouses/domestic partners who are creating their account should use your employee number and the letter “S” at the end (e.g., 12345S).
- Set up your Headspace user name and password.
- Link to your Personify Health account.
- Download the Headspace app and log in.
After you have created your account, Headspace recommends that you access services through their app for the best overall experience.
In order for eligible teen children to access Headspace services, they must first be invited by you or your spouse or domestic partner. You will be prompted to invite dependents through an email from Headspace.
To invite dependents:
- Log in to your Headspace app and click your profile tab.
- Click the "Send invites" button.
- Enter the email for each dependent. You may invite up to 5 dependents.
- Click "Send invite".
- Your dependent will receive an email invite from Headspace with instructions for joining the program.

How to Request In-Person Therapy
Headspace offers three ways to request in-person therapy.
Through their app
- Log in to the Headspace app and click the "Care" tab at the bottom of the page
- In the "Care" tab, select "In-person therapy" at the bottom of the page
- Select the option to fill out a form to request an in-person session
On their website
- Log in the Headspace website
- Under "In-person therapy", select "Schedule a session"
- Select the option to fill out a form to request an in-person session
By phone
- Call 855-420-0734 to talk to a Resource Specialist
