What's Not Covered

The BTA Plan does not cover and will not pay benefits for any loss related to any of the following, even if the cause of the loss is an accidental bodily injury:

  • Being in, entering, or exiting any aircraft that is owned, leased, or operated the Company, or operated by a Canon Medical Systems employee on behalf of the Company.
  • Being in, entering, or exiting any aircraft in which you are acting or training as a pilot or crew member, except in a life-threatening emergency.
  • Emotional trauma, mental or physical illness, disease, pregnancy, childbirth or miscarriage, bacterial or viral infection, bodily malfunctions, or medical or surgical treatment thereof.
  • While you are incarcerated after a conviction.
  • Active military service in the armed forces of any country or international authority, except for the first 60 consecutive days.
  • Traveling or flying on any aircraft engaged in specialized aviation activities (i.e., a rocket propelled or rocket launched aircraft, or any flight that requires a special permit or waiver from the government).
  • Suicide, attempted suicide, or intentionally self-inflicted injury.
  • Trade or econimic sanctions or other legal prohibitions against providing AD&D insurance.
  • Declared or undeclared war.
