The plan will pay a benefit if your losses are the result of a carjacking for which you are driving or riding as a passenger. Official documentation of the carjacking must be provided.
The total amount of the benefit will be 10% of your coverage amount up to a maximum of $25,000. This benefit is in addition to any other benefits paid under the policy.
If you die from a covered accident and have an eligible child at the time of your accident and your death, the plan will reimburse you for covered child care expenses of 10% of your covered amount subject to the following maximums:
- $5,000 per year
- $10,000 total maximum benefit, regardless of the number of dependent children
This benefit only applies if:
- Your child is under age 13
- Child care expenses are incurred within 365 days after your death
This benefit is in addition to any other benefits paid under the policy.
The plan will pay a benefit for coma if a covered accident causes you to:
- Lapse into a coma within 30 days after the accident,
- Remain in a coma for 30 consecutive days,
- Be confined to a hospital or other licensed facility within the first 30 days after the accident as prescribed and supervised by a physician.
The benefit amount is 1% of your coverage amount per month. Payments will end on the earliest of:
- The date you are no longer comatose due to the injury,
- The date you die, or
- The date the total amount of coma benefits paid equals 100% of your coverage amount.
If you die within 365 days after the accident, the plan will pay a lump sum benefit equal to 100% of your coverage amount less any coma benefits already paid.
If you are unavoidably exposed to the elements resulting from a covered accident and, as a result of such exposure, suffer a loss for which a benefit would otherwise be payable, the loss will be covered under the terms of the policy.
If your body has not been found within one year of the disappearance, stranding, sinking, or wrecking of any conveyance in which you are traveling for business, it will be presumed that you suffered an accidental death.
If you suffer a covered loss from an accidental injury, the plan will reimburse you for expenses you incur to alter your home or modify your vehicle to accommodate your disability. Such expenses must be incurred within eighteen months after the accidental injury.
This benefit is payable if:
- A physician certifies that the expense is needed to accommodate a physical disability;
- The services rendered are made by professionals with expertise in home alteration or vehicle modification;
- Expenses are in compliance with any applicable laws and applicable government requirements were the services are rendered; and
- Expenses do not exceed the usual level of charges for such alterations or modifications.
The home alteration and vehicle modification benefit is a one-time benefit, not to exceed the following amounts:
- 10% of your coverage amount for home alteration
- 10% of your coverage amount for vehicle modification
- 20% of your coverage amount, up to a maximum of $50,000
This benefit is in addition to any other benefits paid under the policy.
If you become injured or ill while you are traveling on business, you may be eligible for a medical evacuation or repatriation benefit. This benefit is in addition to any other benefits paid under the policy. The amount of this benefit is unlimited.
This benefit applies only if the covered trip:
- Is more than 100 miles away from your primary residence, and
- Lasts no more than 180 consecutive days.
Medical evacuation is emergency transportation from the location where you became ill or injured to the nearest hospital where appropriate treatment can be provided. The plan will also guarantee hospital admission, if necessary, by advancing funds to the hospital if payment is a condition of your admission, up to a maximum of $5,000.
Repatriation is transport from the local hospital where you received emergency treatment to another hospital or your home or domicile. It also includes transport of your remains to your home or domicile.
Covered expenses for medical evacuation and repatriation include:
- Land, water, or air transportation best suited to accommodate the medical emergency or repatriation
- Necessary supplies and services in connection with the medical evacuation or repatriation
- Embalming, cremation, transportation, and purchase of a shipping container
Covered expenses do not include expenses you incur:
- When traveling against the advice of a physician
- For the purpose of obtaining medical treatment
- That are not ordered by a physician
- That are not approved and arranged by Chubb's Assistance Services Administrator
If you are admitted to a hospital for more than five days while you are on a covered trip, the plan will also pay the following travel-related expenses for family members:
- Transportation costs to return a dependent child to your home if he or she was accompanying you on the trip when you became injured or ill.
- Temporary lodging, transportation, and meals to bring one immediate family member to and from the hospital or facility where you are confined, not to exceed $100 per day for a maximum of five days. This benefit is paid if you are alone and the facility is more than 75 miles from your home.
All covered expenses must be arranged and approved in advance by Chubb's Assistance Service Administrator. All transportation arrangements will be by the most direct and economical route.
If a covered accidental injury results in the need for medically necessary counseling, the plan will reimburse the expenses for such counseling. The benefit is 5% of your covered amount, up to a maximum of $25,000.
This plan will reduce it's benefits by any amounts already paid or payable by another plan.
The plan will not pay for expenses that are incurred two or more years from the date of the covered loss, even if the maximum benefit has not been reached.
This benefit is in addition to any other benefits paid under the policy.
If you are unable to perform your job because of a covered loss, the plan will reimburse you for rehabilitative expenses you incur to prepare for gainful occupation. the plan will reimburse the expenses for such treatment. If approved, the plan will pay a rehabilitation benefit of up to a maximum of $10,000.
Rehabilitative treatment must be under the direction of a physician and be provided by the following:
- A therapist who is licensed, registered, or certified to perform such treatment, or
- A hospital or other facility that is licensed to provide such treatment.
This plan will reduce it's benefits by any amounts already paid or payable by another plan.
The plan will not pay for expenses that are incurred two or more years from the date of the covered loss, even if the maximum benefit has not been reached.
This benefit is in addition to any other benefits paid under the policy.
In addition to any death benefit payable under the BTA Plan, a separate benefit may be payable if death occurs while you are a passenger in or the driver of an automobile equipped with seat belts, or seat belts and an air bag (or other personal safety restraint system).
If the accident occurs while you are wearing a properly fastened seat belt, the plan pays an additional benefit of 10% of your coverage amount, up to a maximum of $25,000.
In the event the seat belt benefit is payable and you were protected by a properly-deployed air bag or personal safety restraint system, the plan pays an additional benefit of 10% of your coverage amount, up to a maximum of $25,000.
If you die from a covered accident, the plan will reimburse expenses for your spouse or domestic partner to attend an institution of higher learning to obtain or refresh his or her employment skills.
Covered expenses include tuition, fees, room and board, and costs for books or course supplies. Expenses must be incurred within two years of your death.
The benefit amount is 10% of your coverage amount, up to a maximum of $5,000.
