HMSA Vision

HMSA Vision

Hawaii residents automatically have vision coverage through the HMSA medical plan you elected and the VSP plan.

With HMSA's vision plan, you can see eye care providers in the HMSA network as well as providers who aren't. Keep in mind that you'll save the most money when you see providers in HMSA's network.

When you see network providers, you will generally pay the following copays:

  • $10 copay for one eye exam per calendar year
  • $10 copay for one pair of single vision or multifocal lenses per calendar year
  • $25 copay for one pair of contact lenses, up to a $130 allowance, per calendar year (contact fittings are included in your copay, up to a $45 allowance)
  • $15 copay for one frame every 24 months

When you obtain services from non-network providers, you will need to pay for the entire charge and you will be reimbursed by HMSA up to their specified reimbursement levels.

Vision coverage is also available for children, although benefits may vary for certain services.
