Disability Plans
If you become ill or injured and are unable to work, the Company offers two plans that replace a portion of your income: a Short Term Disability (STD) Plan and a Long Term Disability (LTD) Plan.
- Short Term Disability—STD coverage is designed to pay a benefit for up to 52 weeks if you are unable to work due to a short term illness or injury. This coverage is paid for through employee contributions. The plan is voluntary unless you live in a state that requires disability insurance, in which case you will continue to have a payroll deduction for the state-mandated coverage.
- Long Term Disability—for longer disabilities, LTD coverage can provide a benefit once your short term benefit ends. LTD coverage is paid for entirely by the Company. You do not need to enroll—you automatically receive LTD coverage when you start full-time employment with Canon Medical Systems.
