Defined Benefit Retirement Plan

The Toshiba America, Inc. Retirement Plan is a cash balance, defined benefit pension plan established by Toshiba America, Inc. 

Important note: The Plan was frozen effective January 1, 2012. As a result, Participants are no longer eligible to receive any contribution credits, including Contribution Credits, Supplemental Contribution Credits, Supplemental Quarterly Credits and the extra Contribution Credit. Participant Cash Balance Accounts will continue to be credited with Interest Credits as described in "Interest Credits"If you have questions about the retirement plan, you may contact the TAMS Benefits Department at 800-421-1968.

The purpose of the Plan is to provide Employees of the Company and its participating affiliates with retirement income. The Plan also provides certain benefits in the event of death, disability, or other termination of employment. The Plan is maintained for the exclusive benefit of Participants and their beneficiaries.

This Summary Plan Description (an "SPD") contains a summary in understandable language of your rights and benefits under the Plan as of January 1, 2012. If you have difficulty understanding any part of this SPD, you should contact your local benefits department for assistance.

This SPD is a brief description of the Plan. It is not meant to interpret, extend or change the Plan Document in any way. A copy of the Plan Document is on file with the Plan Administrator and may be read by any Employee at any reasonable time. The Plan Document shall govern in the event of any discrepancy between this SPD and the actual provisions of the Plan.
