State Paid Family Leave

State Paid Family Leave

State-sponsored paid family leave may be available depending on the state in which you live. Some states (e.g., California) offer a state insurance program to provide partial wage replacement benefits for employees during a qualified leave of absence—for example, leave to care for a seriously ill child, spouse, parent or domestic partner, or to bond with a new child.

Unless otherwise required, these state programs generally do not provide employees with separate leave entitlements and/or job restoration rights. Generally, these types of programs allow eligible employees to receive partial wage replacement benefits for a certain time period. State paid family leave benefits may run concurrently with federal- and state- mandated family and medical leaves.

It is the employee’s responsibility to apply for any state paid family leave benefits for which he/she may be eligible. Benefits provided by the Company may affect payment of state paid family leave benefits so it is important to notify the designated leave administrator, Lincoln Financial, if you plan to apply for state paid family leave so that the Company may coordinate benefit payments.
